In brief: If symptomatic

Rathke's cleft cyst is a developmental remnant of rathke pouch, a normal structure formed during development of the pituitary gland.
Most cysts are found incidentally during MRI scanning for other reasons. If the cyst is causing symptoms such as headaches, visual compromise, or is affecting normal pituitary function, the cyst can be removed surgically. Check with your neurosurgeon.
