Certainly trying to improve bodily hygiene should reduce the incidence of boils, abscesses and skin irritation.
I'm not sure though I can fully recommend talc, as there are concerns about longer term health effects with those products. Keeping 'dry' and practicing good hygiene (frequent showers/baths) should reduce the germ counts on your skin that can cause these types of troubles. See dematology
