In brief: Certain kinds
If you have hearing loss on the basis of poor transmission of sound to the hearing nerve, surgery can be helpful.
Repairing a perforated eardrum, removing fluid from the middle ear, improving the function of the middle ear bones or opening a blocked ear canal can all be accomplished with surgery and may help the hearing. Surgery is generally not useful to improve nerve hearing loss.

Hearing loss is more commonly helped with hearing aids and losses that can be fixed with surgery are rarer. Some forms of nerve hearing loss can be treated with cochlear implants or other implantable hearing devices.

The bottom line is that you should get a hearing test, determine the type and extent of your hearing loss and then you will be able to define your options for rehabilitation.

Honestly, most adults with hearing loss need hearing aids.
However, an otolaryngologist (ear , nose and throat specialist) is the best person to diagnose the cause of your hearing loss and make this decision. Some types of hearing loss can be reversed with simple office procedures or medications. More details on ear surgery at http://www.Richmondent.Com/ear-nose-throat/ears-hearing.Php.
