What is the link between obsessive compulsive disorder and being a germaphobe?

In brief: "Germaphobes" + OCD

Mysophobia, or fear of germs is one among ocd's cluster of symptoms, of course, not the only one.
Frequent washing, and fear of contamination accompany this. This germ fear can exist by itself in what is called a "simple phobia" which is the commonest category of specific anxieties or co-occur in ocd. Treatment can be medication, cognitive-behavioral therapy, desensitization. Causes much distres.

There are a significant number of ocd sufferers who experience this at some point in the course of ocd but it can move to other areas
