In brief: Varies

It varies based upon the nature of the infection and the nature of the surgery performed.
At a minimum, antibiotics are required, but sometimes return to the or to wash out the wound and remove the instrumentation involved is required. You would definitely need to be closely followed by your surgeon and sometimes they will involve an infectious disease specialist as well. Thank you.

In brief: Surgery Infection

Depends on depth and type of spinal surgery.
If superficial, maybe only antibiotics. With a deeper infection, opening and draining any localized infection including removal of instrumentation and fusion bone followed by 6-8 weeks of IV therapy maybe required. Please review with your surgeon for more detail.
