Are there alternative methods for treating depression without dealing with doctors and drugs?

In brief: Absolutely
There are many effective treatments for depression that do not involve medications of any kind.
Several well-established forms of talk therapy have proven at least as effective as mediations, if not more so. If you'e looking for a magic pill that isn't a medicine, then that's tougher. Health food stores have such products, but they are largely untested & may be neither safer nor as effective.

The most important suggestion would be to get help. This is very tough and too dangerous to try and do alone.

I completely agree, even if it starts in the form of getting a good self-help book from the library or bookstore. There are a number available that can help you understand what is happening and begin to develop strategies for dealing with it.

In brief: It depends
On how bad the depression is.
If the depression is mild or moderate, psychotherapy along with a healthy lifestyle is very likely to be effective. If more serious, the risks are more serious of not using medications. And of course, the greatest risk is the risk of suicide.

Yes! classical homeopathy is a system of medicine that can offer relief from many psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, stress-related health conditions, and more.
You would need a careful evaluation by an experienced homeopath, who could prescribe a helpful medicine (remedy) that applies to your case. Collaboration with psychiatrists is possible too.
