In brief: Added toxins possibl

Many in the world of medical treatment of autism feel that the added number of chemicals that we are exposed to have an influence.
Some even think that we are too clean in today's world and our children's immune system are not as robust. Assaults, by toxins, infections, poor diets, gmo foods, and yes vaccines have all been implicated and dismissed by experts. Truth is probably somewhere in middle.

In brief: Broader label now +

Thirty yrs ago autism was a label used for a specific pattern of issues.
Today the term autism spectrum disorder includes autism, asperger's & pervasive developmental delay. We don't have "appendicitis spectrum disorder" but we could lump a lot of belly pain issues together the same way. Broadening the label increases the nbrs, but more are surfacing probably due to gene damage over time.
