Plantar fascitis is an overuse injury of the superficial ligament on the bottom of the foot where it attaches to the heel bone.
(calcaneus). It is most often caused by biomechanical stress. Excessive activity such as running or being overweight are common contributors. It is the most common cause of heel pain. There may be inflammation and/or degeneration of the ligament. See a doctor.
