What's the difference between having a normal wisdom tooth removed and an impacted one?

In brief: Both are normal

I believe in this context a "normal" tooth is one that is emerging correctly and needs to be removed (or pulled out) because there is not room in the mouth.
An impacted one is one that is misaligned and will not emerge correctly and therefore is more difficult to extract.

In brief: Erupt vs impacted

Normal wisdom tooth is completely erupted in mouth, while an impacted wisdom tooth is partially erupted or completely impacted (ie.
Not visible).

In brief: Can vary greatly

So much in dental extractions depends on the patient & the complexity of extraction, ie; partial bony, bony, or ankylosed.
A surgeon's skill, touch & the way they do a surgery. Great hands with a patient who follows all of the home care directions can lead to a very positive result with very little pain. An impacted wisdom can be more challenging so please follow home care instructions.
