In brief: Yes
There are patients who do not experience nausea and vomiting after surgery.
Nausea and vomiting, however, are the most common negative effects is anesthesia and surgery. There are several medications that can be given to lessen/prevent n/v. Unfortunately, there are a select few will still experience n/v to some degree despite what meds are given to them.

There are plenty of medications to treat and prevent post operative nausea and vomiting.
This should be discussed with your anesthesiologist and your past experiences should be discussed. It should be possible to really decrease your chances of having this unpleasant experience again.

Post op nausea was not an uncommon problem. With the newer anesthetic agents and newer anti nausea drugs it is not nearly as common as it used to be.
Most patients get a variety of anti-nausea medication at the time of surgery and do quite well. That being said, there are a few patients who have nausea every time they have surgery no matter what we do.
