Slight twinges of pain in rib cage and middle back pain cancer?

Cancer pain. Not knowing your current medical condition, it is hard to say. If you are healthy, it may be a sign of fatigue or muscle aches and pains. If its worse not relieved by over the counter medication or topical remedies, i would see your physician to check out all the possibilties of the back/rib pain.

I have middle back pain and pain under my left rib cage. There is an increase in pain when I take a deep breath, what could this be?

Pleurisy. Sounds like it could be pleurisy. If you don't have a rash on your skin that looks like blisters (which would be shingles), this is likely an inflammation of the lining of your lungs. Ibuprofen (if ok with your system) is the treatment of choice. Other possibilities are a pulled ribcage muscle - if that's the case, Ibuprofen is still the treatment. Read more...
Intercostal neuralgi. Pain likely related to inflammation or irritation of nerves which travel under ribs. Need to be sure that it is not related to inflammation or infection of the lungs. Check for fever and also if there is any associated shortness of breath or cough that is productive of sputum which may be yellow or green. For nerve inflammation then 7 to 10 days of an anti-inflammatory would help (motrin 600mg). Read more...

Difficult to say. There are many possibilities here. The pain could be coming from the spine. I am not sure how you know it is not muscular. Other possible pain generators include the lungs, ribs or the internal organs. This could be a pain that originates exactly where you feel it or could be referred from a more distant location. You need a good physical examination by an md/do who is used to dealing with this. Read more...
