Are fibroids tumors detected by an MRI with contrast?

Yes. I use MRI to evaluate all of my patients with fibroids. The MRI is very good to outline anatomy as well as decide if fhe fibroid(s) are 'alive.' big fibroids can undergo spontaneous infarction (death) and there is no use in embolization or treatment to already dead fibroids. The MRI helps see both pre- and post-treatment how healthy the fibroids are.
