In brief: At skeletal maturity
Patients need to finish their bone growth prior to total joint replacement.
This is called skeletal maturity. The younger you are, the more likely you are to require revision of some or all of the implants in the future. If you are young and knee replacement is the only option consider partial knee replacement with a system like the makoplasty robotic system or a proven long lasting total knee.
