Other risk factors include smoking, family history, history of excess thyroid hormone use overactive thyroid, chronic GI disease such as celiac disease, chronic pancreatic disease, steroid use, loss of menstrual period, menopause, alcoholic abuse, chronic liver disease, certain medications, inadequate calcium intake, jlow body weight (<110-120 pounds).
