In brief: Treat it

This involves: treatment of actively infested people, killing of lice from clothing, and prophylaxis of close contacts.
Pyrethrins, malathion, benzyl alcohol, and lindane are examples of medications used for lice treatment. The space limitations here cannot do justice to this topic- go to the cdc website for the most comprehensive answer- http://www.Cdc.Gov/parasites/lice/head/treatment.Html.

In brief: Shampoo and Combing

You will have to use a chemical shampoo (such as rid or something equivalent).
Then you comb through your hair to get rid of the nits and eggs. This must be done again 7-10 days later to make sure any "hatched" eggs are now also removed.
