What are the causes of peripheral neuropathy?

Many causes. Peripheral neuropathy is a condition resulting from abnormal nerve function. Neuropathy can be due to certain vitamin deficiencies, nerve damage due to trauma, alcohol consumption, radiation, side effects of certain medications, or due to certain medical conditions such as diabetes. Treatment varies depending on the cause of the problem. Have it evaluated and appropriately treated.
So many causes.. Besides diabetes and chemo, vitamin deficiency, many infections such as hiv, lyme disease, or kidney failures, certain cancers, autoimmune disease, heavy metal poisoning (lead/mercury/arsenics etc..), nerve entrapments such as carpal tunnel, tarsal tunnel, ulnar nerve entrapment, radiation exposures, and in some cases the cause is not known (idiopathic). Check with your doc... Good luck.
