In brief: Skin infection
Impetigo is a term used to describe a superficial skin infection that causes painful redness, occasionally blisters and hallmark has " honey-crusted" lesions.
It is highly contagious through skin contact and is usually caused by staph aureus and occasionally streptococcus. It is treated with antibiotics - usually oral and topical along with keeping lesions clean with soap and water.

In brief: Bacterial infection
School sores (or impetigo) are a bacterial skin infection caused by the bacteria staph aureus found everywhere.
The treatment usually is ten days of antibiotics by mouth. The best antibiotic for school sores is flucloxacillin a form of penicillin. The sores also need to be covered to stop them spreading. Cleansing the skin with antiseptic and putting antibiotic cream in the nose may also be needed
