I have chronic bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. Is there something other that presceiption drugs that I can take to get rid of the infection?

Yeast yes, BV harder. Preventing recurrent vaginal yeast infections usually is pretty easy, with a weekly oral dose of fluconazole (Diflucan). Recurrent or persistent BV is more difficult, but many cases can be controlled or limited by periodic vaginal metronidazole (Metrogel), although it is expensive. Discuss with your doctor; or ask for referral to an ObG with subspecialty or special interest in infectious diseases. Read more...

Is it possible to have a safe/healthy vaginal delivery w/ bacterial vaginosis & yeast? Just found out I have both & im days away from delivery (41w)

Absolutely. Bv is not dangerous to your baby during delivery and the yeast can be quickly suppressed so that even though it is not particularly dangerous to the baby it will be eradicated before you deliver. Good luck and have a great baby. Read more...
