In brief: Life Saving

Even though it may be life saving, most jehovah witnesses will still not allow the use of human products.
Some may agree to the use of a cell saver or saving one's own blood for later use, when time allows. But in an emergency, it comes down to faith and personal belief. A personal choice should always trump medical decisions, regardless of possible outcome.

The only manner in which this might be done is by having the court remove a child from parental care and then transfuse them under life-threatening circumstances. Adults who are competent are allowed to make their own decisions, even though it might be fatal. Wonder what Darwin would say.
Dr. Ed Friedlander
Darwin would probably say that while nature is seldom really cruel, and never willfully, the way that the JW's treat a member who has accepted a transfusion to save his/her life is appalling. Physicians who do not know the real pressures that a JW is under, and the clear intention of the sect to deceive about the science as evidenced in their book "How Can Blood Save Your Life?" should get acquainted and then "speak the truth in love." You can point JW's to a group within the sect that favors reform on blood http://www.ajwrb.org/ but they also know that if they log in, they risk being "disfellowshipped" (lose family & friends permanently.)

In brief: Life saving

Blood transfusions are used as a life saving measure.
When people lose blood rapidly their bodies can shut down and stop functioning ultimately leading to death. Simple replacement of blood cells from donors can be the difference between life and death. It is a doctor's attempt to prolong life and this is why they will recommend it if it will be beneficial to anybody.

You should not attempt to treat adults against their will or their beliefs, even if their lives are in danger.
