In brief: Roughly one year

The immunogenic tumor protein, a post translational modification of MUC5ac is found in most colon Ca.
When polyoma enters bowel to form a field effect, one site will develop a Ca. If resected and premalignant normal appearing cells which express MUC 5ac are left behind, suppression is eliminated and one of the foci, staining + for MUC5ac will grow and replace anastomosis in about 1 yr.
