My upper left abdomen hurts constantly and there seems to be some swelling there. The pain is intense at times. What could this be?

1 doctor agrees

In brief: Several organs there

Well...There are spleen, part of your stomach, the splenic-flexure portion of your large colon, the diaphragm, lower pain of your left lung, and bottom of your heart is in the vicinity, so any of these affected could cause pain.
Swelling you can see/feel suggest something more superficial (or very large spleen-not common) such as sebaceous cyst or lipoma etc.. Check with your doc. Good luck.
