In brief: Possible lymph node

If it a small pea to marble sized lump, it is likely a lymph node that has become swollen in response to the infection.
Motrin should help and it should resolve as the infection resolves. If the whole area is swollen, you should see your doctor as this may represent a very rare, but possibly dangerous complication of an ear infection - mastoiditis.
