Do different types of angioplasty techniques or stents have different success rates?

Yes, Varies Widely. Dr. Korona's short answer is accurate but are there many additional highly relevant variables: type of stent; des vs. Bare stainless steel; how placed; location & anatomy in which placed; speed of blood flow after the hydraulic expansion; how expanded; what anti-clotting agents are used with what timings, how the individual responds to all of these variables & the list goes on. Not really. Depends on amount of plaque and size of vessel. Smaller vessels close faster. Long lesions close faster.
