In brief: BV germs=own body
Bacterial vaginosis (bv) results from an overgrowth of one of several organisms normally present in the vagina.
Taking antibiotics or 'douching' can cause overgrowth of 'bad' bacteria (anaerobes) which take over the 'good' bacteria (lactobacilli). If anaerobic bacteria become too numerous, they upset the natural balance of microorganisms & BV results. The treatment is targeted antibiotics.
