In brief: Uric acid level

Elevated uric acid levels can lead to acute gouty flares.
If uric acid levels are normalized flares may decrease in frequency.

In brief: Uric acid level

People with gout have a sustained long term increase in their blood uric acid.
This increase cause the development of monosodium urate crystals that can precipitate in tissues and in joints causing a gout attack. Sometiem this can be related to genetic reasons increasing the produciton of uric acid and sometimes a kidney problem decreasing the excretion of uric acid. Your physician can help.
