1year old having upper respitory problems along with cronic ear infections. Said surgery putting tubes in her ears will help... Is there another opt?
Watch and wait. The kid who has 5 separate episodes/yr or one that has not cleared in 90 days will likely benefit. This comes as a drop frequency to 1-2/yr while the tubes remain and an immediate improvement in the hearing lost during episodes.Eventually, head growth will bring a change in frequency by improving Eustachian tube function.

Chronic ear infectio. Tubes in the ear surgery is likely to help, but only for as long as the tubes remain in place (typically a year or two). The other standard option is just repeated courses of antibiotics without or without cortisone medication to suppress the inflammation. Otc sinus rinses would also be very helpful.
