My husband is experiencing extreme dizziness. Could this be caused by having too much sugar at once?

In brief: Sugar symptoms
Usually dizziness occurs with a low sugar.
A high sugar can cause dizziness if person becomes dehydrated and has a low bp. 'reactive' hypoglycemia can follow a large sugar/ carb load which may trigger the over secretion of Insulin and a precipitous drop in blood glucose. This phenomenon can be detected by using a glucose monitoring device before/after the carb load.

My experience of patients using the term "extreme dizziness" is severe vertigo (spinning sensation which is of inner ear origin). However, a sense of lightheadedness or feeling faint can be from conditions Dr. Dons described.
