Have thyroid nodule 20 yrs with many U/S and FNA but U/S now shows scattered echogenic foci-calcify with increased vascularity - what does this mean?

Consistency. A lot depends on what has happened to this nodule over the last 20 yr. Any growth? Is the calcification new? The best scenario is where the US and FNA are all being done by the same person; sometimes the "reports" say different things when it is really not changed. Consider repeat FNA. If the calcifications are possibly new, it would be best to repeat the FNA, as calcifications in a thyroid nodule may be due to papillary cancer. . Read more...
