I have just been diagnosed with pcos. I have approx 30-40 cysts on each ovary & about to start on clomid (clomiphene). What happens the cysts after taking clomid (clomiphene)?

Not true cysts. What the doctor is seeing are really antral follicles not cysts. These are eggs that are waiting to develop and be released or undergo atresia and die off without being released. Hopefully you will respond to Clomid (clomiphene) and make 1-2 eggs to release.

No. It would be best to have 6cm cyst removed to increase chances of pregnancy. There is more to starting clomid than just knowing your follicle count. You would need many other tests on both partners first to ensure you are a good candidate. You should discuss further with your obgyn. . Read more...

Most importantly, understand that PCOS is and GYN problem and you should be under the care of both endocrinologist and GYN working together and are familiar with PCOS. Read more...
