I have asthma on advair 100/50 2 x day and my dr just gave me singulair (montelukast). I can't sleep at night and my allergies are worse then ever. What should I do?

Singulair (montelukast) Occasionally people get insomnia from singulair (montelukast) especially when it is taken at night as instructed. Some have found relief by taking it in the morning instead.
Allergies. Allergies can make your asthma significantly worse. If the singulair (montelukast) is causing a problem with sleep, either try taking in the morning or discontinuing it after talking to the dr. Who prescribed it. Other options would be a 24h antihistamine such as Allegra or zyrtec for your allergies; temporarily increasing the advair to better control the asthma; nasal sprays are great for allergies. Good luck.
