How difficult is it to tear your hamstring?

In brief: Hamstring Tear

At 34 it is not that difficult.
Depending on your pre activity flexibility and conditioning your ability to except the loads may be compromised especially if you have a sedentary job. Hamstring injury occurs during and eccentric load on the muscle, i.e. Lengthening as it contracts to absorb load. If your muscle is not conditioned to accept the load a tear can happen during sprinting etc.

In brief: Variable

There really is no way to clearly answer this.
A torn hamstring can occur typically during athletic activity, mostly sprinting. And if you do suffer one, it can take some time to heal, not unusual for 3-6 mo till it feels normal again.
