Uc. Ulcerative colitis. Can I take zyrtec (cetirizine).?

Zyrtec (cetirizine) with UC. Thanks for asking--its always a good idea when you have a systemic disease to check with doctor before taking a new drug. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is an antihistamine. Per pdr, referrable to the GI tract, when taking zyrtec (cetirizine) 5% get dry mouth, 5.6% get abdominal pain, 2-3% get diarrhea, 2-3% get nausea &/or vomiting, less than 2% get constipation, flatulence, rectal hemorrhage, % mouth ulcers. Sounds safe enough w/uc.
Not for this. Zyrtec (cetirizine) is not used for uc. There are other meds for that. You should see your gastroenterologist for treatment, management, and monitoring.
