In brief: No need to

There is no need to take them together. Simply switch over and you should be fine.

No problem!

In some cases both medications might be prescribed together, and it is okay to take both meds concurrently.

In brief: ZANTAC (ranitidine) AND PRILOSEC

Althogh it is safe to take Zantac (ranitidine) with Prilosec as these two work differently to cut down the acid production, and sometimes in difficult to control cases of esophageal reflux we do use them in combination.
But you can switch to Prilosec and stop Zantac (ranitidine) as it can be stopped, Prilosec is stronger acid supresser then zantac (ranitidine).
