I have prostate cancer. I have a gleson score of 7. I will have a radical robotic prostatectomy in 5 weeks. Is there a diet to slow the cancer growth?

In brief: Your surgeon may

Have already discussed hormones, and soy in diets contain phytoestrogens.
Gleason 7 is less predictable, assuming 3+4, and more ominous if 4+3, many cores densely packed. Biological factors of your cancer are more important than diet or method of prostatectomy. Most agree that anti-hormones improve outcomes in gleason 7. Best wishes to you.

In brief: Evidence is scant

There is no specific diet shown to slow down prostate cancer.
One study showed benefit with the use of lycopenes, that can be found in tomatoes, watermelon, guave, and more as well as pomegranates. However, other studies have shown no such benefit, If having surgery, the best thing right now to do is if you are overweight, do what you can to lose weight and start daily exercise

In brief: Consider pomegranate

An initial phase ii clinical trial of pomegranate juice in patients with prostate cancer reported significant prolongation of prostate specific antigen doubling time.
So, you can consider pormegranate juice or extract. It will not harm you , and perhaps will help you a bit. Good luck for the surgery. http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/news/20110217/can-pomegranate-pills-fight-prostate-cancer.

In brief: Not really

Different reserchers came with different recommendations but none is scientifically proven to be of much value.
So for practical purposes there is no specific diet recommendation to slow the cancer growth. Good luck.
