In brief: Inflammation , eye
As with other parts of the body, all inflammatory response is the body's response to something such as an infectious agent, an irritant such as drug or chemicals etc.
While steroids will help as do non- steroid agents, the causative agents needs to be identified as some are potentiated by these agents. Careful monitoring during treatment is therefore a must

Ophthalmology
In brief: Steroids
Regardless of the type, cause or location of imflammation in the body, the mainstay of treatment ultimately includes one form of steroid or another. Inflammation of the eye can occur inside (uveitis, retinitis, choroiditis, keratitis) or externally (eyelid inflammation, conjunctival and outer eyeball inflammation).
Topical drops and/or oral steroids may be necessary.
