In brief: Hives

Red, itchy welts that blanch when pressed on.
Can start small and coalesce into large patches....Or simply get bigger and bigger. Main symptom is that they are extremely itchy.

There may also be sweling of the eyelids, lips, face, hands & feet called angioedema. This swelling occurs at a deeper level in the skin and may hurt or burn rather than itch. Angioedema is still a manifestation of hives.
