Went to lunch with my family. Noticed things that were worrisome. What are the symptoms of high potassium and who can get it?

In brief: Arrythmia

Some symptoms include nothing, fatigue and muscle weakness.
However the most important sympotm may be chest pain or palpitations as hyperkalemia can cause heart issues. People with chronic kidney disease and who are diabetic tend to develop hyperkalemia. Also individuals taking cerain medications like ace inhibitors, arbs and Aldactone (spironolactone) can develop hyperkalemia.

In brief: Cardiac arrythmias

Most of the time there are no symptoms.
High potassium can cause irregular heart beat that may be fatal. There are a number of diseases associated with high potassium, e.g., uncontrolled diabetes and renal failure.
