In brief: Rare cancer

It affects primarily teens and young adults, but can occur at almost any age.
It usually occurs in bone, but can also be in the soft tissues. Chemotherapy is needed for the best chance of cure. Surgery and/or radiation are also given. The tumor can spread to the lungs and other bones. With modern treatment, the chances of cure are good. Amputation is very rarely needed.
