Is it genes or lifestyle or both that make it likely to get pregnancy loss?

In brief: Both

Both....But remember if there was something you could do to make yourself loose a pregnancy, there would be no need for abortion clinics.
I say this because my patients tend to blame themselves. I hope this helps.

In brief: Both ...

There are many causes of pregnancy loss, some are genetic - blood clotting disorders, rare genetic abnormalities(translocations).
Some women are born with a uterine abnormality. Other causes are acquired - fibroids, polyps, abnormal antibodies (autoimmunity). Lifestyle factors: smoking, sexually transmitted infections and genetics can lower your egg supply (ovarian reserve). Consult a fertility md.
