In brief: Cautious

Mouth cancer is usually squamous cell carcinoma.
This type of cancer is frequently associated with tobacco, excess alcohol or hpv. Depending on the grade of cancer, stage of the tumor, and where it is located, along with the specific type, will determine what treatments are offered (surgery, radiation). This information should be provided to you to help you understand your treatment options.

You should be as concerned as if the house you are in were on fire. Please forgive my frankness. Untreated, this WILL kill you. Fortunately, mouth cancers caught early tend to be curable. Be sure two pathologists signed off on the report. Good luck -- and I'm glad you were diagnosed.
