Many effective types of birth control are safe to take or use while breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor about options.

In brief: Yes, but...
Breastfeeding "birth control" is called lactational amenorrheal.
In order for breastfeeding to be a form of birth control, your baby must be under 6 months of age, your should not have had your first period since your delivery yet, and you need to breastfeed every 3 hours during the day and no more than 4 at night, exclusively. That's a lot of conditions, but it is effective when they are met.
