In brief: Varies

A non displaced fracture in a child may tame a few weeks.
A displaced fracture may take longer. A significant fractr in an adult may take many months. Fingers often feel stiff and sore for a long time after they heal.

In brief: 6wks

Most healthy adults will heal a broken bone in about 6 weeks.
Hands/fingers tend to heal a little faster than other parts of the body. Healing of the bone, however, is only one part of returning to activities. You may need hand therapy to help regain motion in the joints adjacent to the break.

Because the hand gets stiff if immobilized for mor than 3-4 weeks you should be casted for only that long and then splinted but allowed to work on range of motion.
