1 doctor agrees
In brief: Current recomendatio
According to epocrates, the current recommendation for pid treatment in an outpatient setting is for 250mg of Ceftriaxone as a shot, along with 100mg doxycyline 2x day for 2 weeks and possibley 500mg of Metronidazole twice a day for 2 weeks.
There are alternatives if you are allergic to these meds.

Internal Medicine - Infectious Disease
In brief: Various Antibiotics
Pelvic inflammatory disease may often be the result of sexually transmitted infections although there are other ways of developing this.
The types of organisms likely to be involved vary, but are usually susceptible to broad-spectrum antibiotics, many of which can be given orally. Unfortunately there are some circumstances when surgery is necessary, and damage to the fallopian tubes may occur.
