In brief: Thigh pain

Make an appointment to see your pediatrician as soon as possible especially if he is limping.

In brief: "popping"

Makes hip as origin more likely.
Should see pediatrician soon, but not er, as may need imaging versus pt or observation.

If he can bear weight on leg without pain then agree with seeing pediatrician soon. If can not bear weight urgent care for hip X-ray
