Could you tell me what happens if you look into a laser pointer?

2 doctors agree

In brief: Macular burn

Some laser pointers are very strong.
Directly looking at them can cause damage to the macula or the very center of vision. If you have sudden decrease in vision after looking at a laser pointer you should see an ophthalmologist on emergency basis. Sometime the macula has inflammation and edema that can be treated with steroids and other medication so the eye sight is not damaged.
