Vision starts at the front of the eye and ends at the back of the brain.
Trauma anywhere along the way can cause vision loss. Obviously if one lands on their face, eye damage can occur. But closed head trauma can damage the nerves and brain tissue that process vision. Temporary focusing problems are common with concussions but permanent brain damage to vision is possible if the trauma is severe.
