In brief: It hurts

Mainly, it hurts.
If it gets bad enough, it can lock up the tendon. I recently had a patient who had it so bad that the tendon had locked in way that cocked her wrist to the side. Surgery fixed it and she was soooo happy!

In brief: TREATABLE

The condition is inflammtion along the tendons of the thumb and lower portion of the wrist leading to the thumb.
Treatment includes bracing the thumb and wrist, oral anti-inflammatories, local steroid injections, and as a last resort surgery. Bracing and nsaids can be very helpful in many cases.
