In brief: Stones in bile ducts
Stones lodged in the bile ducts may eventually pass into the small bowel on their own.
However, you need to be proactive if these are causing symptoms, or you have elevated bilirubin &/or dilation of the bile ducts on recent imaging. Obstructing stones (depending on location, size, biliary anatomy) may promote infection, pancreatic &/or liver inflammation & need to be removed (typically by ercp).
