In brief: A narrowing
It is a narrowing of a segment of the aortic artery which is the candy-cane shaped artery that comes out of the left side of the heart and provides blood to the body.
Treatment will depend on the severity of the narrowing in the artery.

In brief: Narrowing
Aorta is the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
Coarctation is narrowing of the aorta as it makes a downward turn in the upper chest to proceed towards the lower part of the body. Untreated, it limits blood flow to lower half of the body and also causes high blood pressure in the upper part of the body which can cause heart failure and stroke.
