In brief: Gustatory rhinitis

Gustatory rhinitis is the type of non-allergic rhinitis that is associated with ingestion of spicy foods or foods at temperature extremes (hot or cold).
This seems to be more common in people who smoke or have allergic rhinitis. Hot peppers are the most common food to cause this problem. The drug most often used in treatment is atrovent nasal spray.

I have the condition myself, don't smoke, but have allergic rhinitis. It's annoying, but does not affect my health to the least! I still enjoy eating and have stayed healthy most of my life!

In brief: Vasomotor rhinitis

Prominent symptoms of nasal congestion, runny nose, and congestion.
These symptoms are excessive at times and are exacerbated by certain odors (e.g., perfumes, cigarette smoke, paint fumes, inks); alcohol; spicy foods; emotions; and environmental factors such as temperature, barometric pressure changes, and even bright lights... Chek with your doc....Treatable. Good luck..
